Mining digital technology and transformation cases competition

In 2021, the term Industry 4.0 (i.e. smart factory technology) and the Fourth Industrial Revolution will celebrate their tenth anniversary. In our daily lives, artificial intelligence, robotization, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, 3D technologies, virtual and augmented realities become increasingly common. In the mining industry, digital technology presents new opportunities for enhancing operations and increasing productivity.

Mining companies can improve production and efficiency with new Industry 4.0 technologies. Through the digital transformation of enterprises, the role and place of the individual in society as well as the entire structure of society are changing. As companies strive towards sustainable development, much depends on how successful they are at resolving the cultural issues within their organisations.

MineDigital competition is organised on 6-7 October 2021 at the MINEX Russia forum.

Objectives

The MineDigital competition is organised to benchmark the cases of Industry 4.0 technology implementation in the Russian mining and metals industry and to share practical experiences with the wider professional communities.

Participants are offered opportunities to receive appraisals from top experts from the leading mining companies and to promote their technologies to the industry-wide audience brought together at the MINEX Russia Forum.

Topics and themes

Technology, R&D as well as Mining and Metals companies are invited to present their cases in the following competition streams:

Leveraging digitalisation to improve business productivity and reduce risks.

Collecting, processing, and analysing data to improve operational management from mine to markets.

Use of digital technology for monitoring, diagnostics, and maintenance of mining machines and equipment.

Human-machine interaction. Addressing cultural change issues for the successful implementation of digital solutions.

Improving production safety and reducing the environmental pollution.

Implementation of additive technologies in the mining & metals industry.

How the competition is organised

Who can take part?

The competition is open to companies and individuals who have successfully developed and implemented automation systems and Industry 4.0 technologies in the mining and metallurgical industry in Russia and internationally.

Participation in the competition for companies is free. Admission to the MINEX Russia Forum commercial events is offered to fee-paying companies and individuals.

Participation rules and terms

Contenders are invited to submit their applications before 15 August. The projects submitted for the competition will be considered by a competent jury, independent of the organising committee of the MINEX Russia forum. Projects accepted for participation in the competition will be announced on the forum website. Contenders will be invited to present projects in person or remotely at the MINEX Russia Forum in Moscow on 6-7 October 2021.

The winners will be determined by the audience and the jury votes.

Evaluation Criteria

When evaluating the cases presented at the competition, the jury takes into consideration their innovativeness and potential on shaping the safer, more efficient, and sustainable mining industry of the “future”.

Prizes

– First phase

All participants will be awarded competition diplomas. The winners will receive the bronze, silver, and gold prizes and be nominated for the Russian Mining Awards – a prestigious award considered Russia’s Mining “Oscars”.

– Second phase

The winner of the Russian Mining Award in the Mining Digitalisation category will be determined by an independent jury. The announcement of the Award winner and the presentation of the main prize – a bronze statuette of a miner, will take place on 7 October at a Gala Drinks in Moscow. The results will be published on the forum website and widely distributed to the media partners and accredited media.
